Hey everyone,
Since my marketing plan for the clusters marketing course will be focusing on the Mississauga ICT cluster, I decided to focus this weeks blog entry on MTA, Mississauga Technology Association.
“The Mississauga Technology Association (MTA) was formed in 1990 to provide a networking forum for business, government and academic sectors, to enhance economic and technological growth in the area. Member firms represent a broad range of both users and suppliers of technology from several industry, government, professional, and academic sectors.
MTA Objectives
The primary objectives of the Association are:
- To provide opportunities for communication, cooperation and networking among members firms
- To provide a series of technology-focused events for its members and the technology community at large
- To support the City of Mississauga in attracting technology-based companies to the area
- To promote the development of university and college curricula and research programs to enhance the application of science and technology
The Association has more than 100 member companies, and sponsors a regular series of events – luncheon speakers, seminars and member exhibit opportunities, all providing excellent informative, networking opportunities for its members In recognition of its importance to the community, Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion serves as the Honorary Chair of the MTA. “ ( http://www.mississaugatech.com/aboutus.php )
The MTA is an important aspect to the success of the Mississauga ICT cluster. As we can see, the MTA encompasses all the important qualities which leads to a successful facilitating cluster. I predict that the MTA will grow and prosper and fuel innovation in ICT in the area. The MTA is also known for hosting a variety of events, the most recent being CeBIT 2008 convention. CeBIT is the world’s largest international Information and Communication Technology trade fair, held annually in Hannover, Germany. With 480,000 visitors from around the world in 2006 and 6,150 exhibitors from 58 countries, the show is a must for Canadian companies looking to expand into new markets. MTA had the honor of hosting such an important event, which shows just how far that cluster has come.
till next time….
